Roadmaster takes to the stage at Expo Roads Show 2012

We will have our new 7M3 Roadmaster® Velocity Patcher with demountable hopper on display at the Expo Roads show in Edinburgh on 6th and 7th Nov 2012. Apart from additional aggregate and binder capacity, this machine can quickly demount its hopper and pick up a Romaquip 9M3 stainless steel salt spreader, enabling use for winter maintenance work. New Developments

Most engineers will be familiar with the phenomenon with ‘crazing’ or ‘crocodile cracking’ where movement or sponginess in the road surface causes a patterned cracking, which in turn allows water ingress which can lead to a rapid ‘blowout’ type of failure. Placing a thin layer patch over this type of defect runs the risk of the cracks reappearing through the patch, and therefore the life of the patch can be greatly shortened. Archway Products have recently developed a means of adding fiber strands to the patch material, which will greatly enhance the strength of the patch. This reinforcing has the effect of causing the patch material to stretch rather than crack, in response to sub-surface movement thus preventing water ingress. This new patented system is currently under trial and is expected to greatly enhance the ability of the Roadmaster to deliver long-lasting and cost-effective repairs. Further information will be posted as test results become available.

Travelling through Heathrow Airport? Observe our work throughout the Airport complex, including the perimeter roads, control tower road and car parks. We have recently commenced our second period of work at Heathrow Airport for Dyer and Butler, Civil Engineering Contractors to the BAA.

Sales News

We have recently delivered three Roadmaster Velocity Patchers for Cork County Council, on foot of a tender. This will increase the Cork Roadmaster fleet to seven.

Other recent purchasers include Clare, North Tipperary, and Waterford, who opted for a Roadmaster on a Volvo FE6 x 2 chassis with a Palfinger crane c/w clamshell bucket. This allows the operator to reload locally and provides a major boost to output.
